Savannah is a production-friendly City with endless location choices, fee-free permits, great crew and a professional film office. The State of Georgia offers tax credits and sales tax exemptions to qualified productions in addition to other incentives.

 

The revised 2008 Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act provides a flat tax credit of 20% (download application), based on a minimum investment of $500,000 in Georgia on qualified productions to include materials, services and labor. The incentive provides an additional 10% flat tax credit (download application) if a production company includes an animated Georgia promotional logo on the finished entertainment product (films, TV series, music videos, and video games). The 20% flat tax credit also applies to all commercials shooting in Georgia.

 

This tax credit incentive can be used in conjunction with the Georgia Sales and Use Tax Exemption, a point of purchase savings on most below-the-line materials and service purchases, leases or rentals.
