This position is responsible for directing the activities of the Film Services Department.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; handles employee concerns and problems; directs work; counsels and disciplines staff; completes employee performance appraisals; recruits, appoints, and trains staff.
Represents the City on various boards, commissions, and organizations.
Promotes Savannah as a location for production of motion pictures, television shows, commercials, online, and print media.
Responds to inquiries from production companies.
Assists production companies in obtaining necessary permits, housing, technical and support services, and in working with the media.
Assist production companies in facilitating communication with professional unions.
Assist production companies in contacting and working with residents and businesses in the vicinity of film locations to ensure that the concerns of these businesses and residents about the liming activities are addressed.
Checks on the reputation and financial soundness of production companies interested in filming in and around Savannah.
Prepares, in cooperation with Visit Savannah, information manuals to distribute to production companies working in Savannah.
Maintains accurate and easily-accessible databases of local crew, production services, facilities, locations, and other necessary resources for use by production companies.
Serves as an objective ambassador for the local film community, fully aware of local production resources and possessing the ability to provide access to these resources in an impartial, professional manner.
Serves as the community’s liaison with the State film office.
Serves as the liaison and facilitator between the industry and the community, including other governmental jurisdictions, and production companies.
Informs production companies of fees to be paid, if any, and for ensuring that production companies, as necessary, enter into appropriate formal contracts and agreements with the City and/or other appropriate governmental jurisdiction.
Bachelor's degree in Film, Communications, or related field; with five years experience in film and/or television production; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong written and oral communications skills required. A valid driver's license is required.
Education, licenses, and certification will be verified for all eligible candidates. A post-offer, pre-employment physical and supervised drug screen is required for the candidate selected for this position.
